Ingredients

For the London Broil

  • 2–3 pound London broil (top round or flank steak)
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil

Marinade

  • 1/3 cup soy sauce
  • 1/3 cup balsamic vinegar
  • 3 tablespoons olive oil
  • 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
  • 4 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)

Instructions

1. Marinate the Beef

In a medium bowl, whisk together:

  • Soy sauce
  • Balsamic vinegar
  • Olive oil
  • Worcestershire sauce
  • Garlic
  • Brown sugar
  • Black pepper
  • Smoked paprika
  • Oregano
  • Red pepper flakes

Place the London broil in a resealable bag or shallow dish and pour marinade over the meat.

Refrigerate for at least 4 hours, preferably overnight for maximum tenderness and flavor.

2. Prepare for Cooking

Remove steak from refrigerator 30 minutes before cooking.

Preheat grill or broiler to high heat.

500∘F

Lightly oil grill grates or broiler pan.

3. Cook the London Broil

Remove steak from marinade and pat dry lightly.

Grill or broil for:

  • 5–7 minutes per side for medium-rare
  • 7–8 minutes per side for medium

Cook until internal temperature reaches:

130∘F

for medium-rare.

4. Rest the Steak

Transfer steak to a cutting board and rest for 10 minutes before slicing.

Resting helps preserve juices and tenderness.

5. Slice & Serve

Slice very thinly against the grain at a slight angle.

Serve warm with your favorite sides.

Serving Suggestions

London broil pairs perfectly with:

  • Garlic mashed potatoes
  • Grilled asparagus
